Being here is a really big step and we are so proud of you!

If you're on this page, chances are you're carrying something heavy. Maybe it's anxiety that follows you around like a shadow, or stress that makes you have sleepless nights. Maybe you feel lonely in a room full of people, or stuck in your own head with no off switch for all the overthinking. For some, it's this low-level numbness while for others, it's full-blown exhaustion that a good night's sleep never seems to touch. You're not broken, and you're definitely not alone in this.  More people than you'd ever guess are fighting the same battles behind closed doors.

We understand that life is already packed. Work, family, keeping up with chores; adding "find a therapist" to the list can feel like one more thing you're failing at. That's why we keep things convenient. No waiting rooms, no fighting traffic. Just you, in your comfiest clothes, in a space where you actually feel safe to talk. If you prefer to have in-person sessions, we are warmly open to you in Barrie Ontario.

If you're curious, if something here feels like it might be for you, reach out. Send an email, make a call, whatever's easier. We can just chat about what's going on, no pressure, no judgment. Just two humans figuring out what might help.

At Ahurewa Therapy, we believe healing happens when you actually feel seen. Understood. Not as a checklist of symptoms, but as a whole person with a life, a background, and experiences that have shaped you.

Our work is trauma-informed and culturally responsive, which is just a thoughtful way of saying we get that culture, faith, family dynamics, identity, and everything you've been through actually matters when it comes to your mental health. Representation matters too, our psychotherapists are mainly from the South Asian background, so we deeply understand the obstacles  of navigating multiple cultures, family expectations, and that unique pressure many of us carry between worlds.

We offer therapy for individuals, couples, families, and children across Ontario through secure virtual sessions. No judgment, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just real, evidence-based support that meets you where you are. Our focus isn't on "fixing" you, because you're not broken. It's about creating a space where you feel safe enough to drop the mask, learn some skills that actually help, and reconnect with the strength that's already in you.

We're here to make care more accessible, more human, and more within reach. Because everyone deserves support that actually feels like support.

Meet Our Social Work / Psychotherapy Intern

Mydah Bhalli RSW

Mydah Bhalli is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and MSW candidate at York University. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work in 2025 and is currently continuing her clinical training through her Master’s program. Mydah brings a calm, warm, and collaborative presence to her work, and values creating a space where clients feel safe, heard, and supported. She has experience working as an instructor therapist in the Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) field, supporting children with disabilities aged 4 to 13. This work shaped her understanding of behaviour as meaningful communication, approached with curiosity and care rather than judgment. Under supervision, Mydah supports clients through psychotherapy with a focus on building self-awareness, resilience, and practical tools for everyday life. She believes healing happens through collaboration, compassion, and working at a pace that feels respectful. Outside of therapy, Mydah enjoys reading (The Nightingale is a favourite), travelling, baking, and spending time with loved ones, experiences that help keep her grounded and connected, both personally and professionally.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ambreen Agha as her client for over a year now. She is an incredible therapist and practitioner. What I admire about her the most is she is constantly learning new modalities and healing techniques to help her clients. Her approach is gentle and graceful yet she doesn’t shy away from holding up a mirror for you when you need it most. Her gift is her ability to create emotional safety for her clients which as a practitioner is the most important thing to start the healing journey. I have had many breakthroughs and transformations during our time together especially in my relationship with myself, my wife and as father. You are in safe hands with her.

“Self Acceptance is the ongoing process of welcoming all Parts and banishing none. When we pursue the ideal of self acceptance we also gain the freedom to live by curiosity, exploration and inclusion."

Populations

16+ Adults

Many of the people I work with are high-functioning on the outside — but internally exhausted.

You might be experiencing:

  • Anxiety or chronic overthinking

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Trauma responses or unresolved past experiences

  • Depression or low motivation

  • Stress that shows up physically (sleep issues, tension, headaches)

  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or others

Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed therapy, CBT, and mindfulness-based approaches, we work to understand not just symptoms, but the patterns underneath them.

Healing isn’t about “fixing” you.
It’s about understanding the parts of you that adapted to survive.

Couples & Families

Relationships can be one of our greatest sources of comfort — and also our deepest triggers.

I offer couples therapy in Barrie and online across Ontario for partners who are:

  • Stuck in recurring conflict

  • Struggling with communication

  • Navigating betrayal or trust issues

  • Experiencing emotional distance

  • Preparing for marriage

  • Working through family or cultural pressures

Our approach integrates IFS-informed couples work, attachment theory, and practical communication tools. The goal isn’t to decide who’s right. It’s to understand what’s happening beneath the cycle.
