How do I get started? Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! Your healing journey begins with a willingness to try, and a free 20-minute consultation session. Think of it as a chance for us to meet, for you to get a feel for how I work, and for me to understand a bit about what's bringing you here. We'll talk about your struggles, what you're hoping for, and what matters to you, so if we decide to move forward, our work together is already rooted in what you actually need.
Confidentiality
Is what we talk about actually confidential?
Absolutely. As Social Workers and Psychotherapists, we are legally obligated to protect your privacy. Everything we discuss stays between us, with a few very specific exceptions required by law:
If there's an imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else
If I suspect abuse of a child, elder, or dependent adult
If you direct me to share information with someone
If I receive a valid court order
Other than that, what you share stays with us.
Insurance coverage
Will my insurance cover therapy sessions?
Students, book your consultation and find out how you are covered.
Not a student? No worries, many providers do cover psychotherapy if your insurance includes coverage for a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with a Master's degree. We will give you a receipt after each session, and you submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. A few questions to ask them:
Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?
Is there a deductible I need to meet first?
How many sessions are covered per year?
What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed?
Cancellation Policy
In the event that you need to cancel your session, you must provide at least 36 hours advanced notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 36 hours notice for any reason will require payment of $80-$120. (Depending who you have booked with)
Please note, we will not engage in sessions with anyone when they are driving in a moving vehicle whether they are alone or with anyone else driving. This is to ensure both confidentiality of client and therapist, to ensure your physical safety and the safety of others on the road and to create a space where you can feel free to explore your emotions without other distractions and others listening in. If you come into our virtual session while in a moving vehicle, we will decline the session and you will be charged the full fee.
